Can you believe it’s October already? We’ve noticed that the leaves are starting to change colour and fall, it’s officially Autumn again! Once again we have curated some great events happening in and around Oxford in October to help you make the most of your stay with us.


This month we’re starting with the Apple Weekend which is a wonderful free event at the Waterperry Gardens on 5th and 6th October. This is a perfect family day out celebrating the humble apple in all its glory. Visit the orchards and fruit sheds, play the apple anagram game and but goodies at the craft and food fairs. If an epic party is more your thing, why not go to Foreverland when it arrives in Oxford on October 5th at The O2 Academy Oxford. Claiming to be ‘The World’s Most Magical Club Night’ Foreverland promises surreal spectactles and mysterious moments as standard. Also on October 5th is the Oxford Brookes University Open Day. These Autumn open days are the perfect opportunity to find out about the subjects you’re interested in, explore the campuses, take a tour of the accommodation, meet existing students and so much more. For the book lovers amongst you, the anticipated new book from Philip Pulman – The Secret Commonwealth also launches this month! On 6th October at The Sheldonian Theatre you can see the author himself and listen to him talk about the story of Lyra Silvertongue and Will Parry and this latest instalment in his Book of Dust series. Bicester Heritage will be running their Sunday Scramble on October 6th celebrating heritage motoring and this time will feature the Aston Martin Owners Club, Porsche Club GB, Triumph Sports Six Club and many more. All the information can be found on the Bicester Heritage website.


Also happening In Oxford on October 16th is the Ocean Film Festival which will take place at the Amey Theatre. Showcasing fantastic films showcasing seas and oceans, we’re very excited to see the films in Abingdon this October. See all the films on the line up and book tickets at the festival website.


As Halloween approaches, the Waterperry Gardens are hosting The Great Pumpkin Hunt which starts on 19th October and runs throughout the month. By finding the decorated pumpkins hidden around the gardens you’ll be able to collect a prize! All the information can be found on the Waterperry Gardens website.


For a food-filled weekend, you could visit the Didcot Food Festival which this year runs 26th and 27th October and features street food, a bar and live music alongside butchery skills and chocolate demonstrations.
